As I am always taking pictures, here's some of my favourites for this particular fall. Please enjoy them but remember they are copyrighted. Thanks...Hiy Hiy.
It's was my birthday yesterday! Each year is a blessing and a time for reflection. I love this time of year that I was born. The fall brings beautiful colours, earthy smells and Indian Summer. We have our first turkey, of the fall, on Thanksgiving and my favourite holiday is Halloween. I love to see the excitement on the children's faces. The costumes are so cute. The anticipation of all hallows eve is fun to talk to my grandson about. I can't wait for my grand daughter to begin to understand it too. As I am always taking pictures, here's some of my favourites for this particular fall. Please enjoy them but remember they are copyrighted. Thanks...Hiy Hiy.

This fall I was asked to deliver some Cultural Awareness Workshops. I have been thrilled to be able to do so. As you know, I am First Nation Cree but I am also Metis. My father is Treaty from a First Nation community but my mother is Metis. We grew up knowing they were both proud of their ancestry.
My Moosom told us stories about "Wesakechak" and others to help us to learn, that was the way of the oral tradition of teaching. As young ones we were expected to help our grandparents and our parents. We learned values of hard work and completing tasks. My parents are both survivors of Residential Schools. The stories they have to tell makes me so profoundly sad. On the other hand, without their journeys, they wouldn't be the people they are now. I love them so much. SO I've taken my knowledge from childhood, my understanding of traditions ways and the historical events in Aboriginal peoples lives and I've attempted to make it into a one day workshop that will bring understanding, appreciation and tools for people to work together. I am on a journey of my own helping to create an understanding of the strength of a people. That make me anxious and happy. I am proud of who I am and where I come from. That is clear when you meet me. I walk in two worlds. I go into mainstream and I teach mainstream issues. I live close to the land and practise my traditional ways. I am so very thankful! Hiy Hiy, I'm facilitating some workshops for FCSS in Athabasca, Alberta. It's a very beautiful community right next to the Athabasca River. If you are in the area please let other people know about these. If you can make it there, that's great too. I am looking forward to co-training the ASIST with my friend Jackie. We always have a great time!
