Last year I made a Canvas Tent with the wonderful instructions of my friend Margaret Cardinal. She has been making Tipis and Tents for many years and learned the art from her mother.

I went to a Women's Weekend Retreat this weekend and I had the best time. I met some fantastic women and learned so much. I will post some pictures later in the week but I wanted to share this experience with you. I met Janina and she has the gift of flutes. She did a wonderful flute workshop and gifted ten of us with flutes. She gave so much information, support and filled me with a sense of wonder at the beauty of the music and it resonated within me. I have always loved flute music but to believe that I could play some songs filled my heart with the desire to learn, learn, learn. She is part of a group called Northern Alberta Native American Flute Circle (NANA). They have a website. She gave me a poem that I want to share with you. I feel so blessed and honoured to have her cross my path. Hiy Hiy.
I am the Native American Flute by Steve Wornoff I am the Native American Flute. I have always been and I will always be. I was there to play for the beginning of Creation and I will be there to play at its ending. Few have heard my voice. But in each time and in each age there have been some. Those that have heard my love, those who have heard my pain, those who have heard my hope. My song is not easy and my voice is easily lost in the noise of the world. Sometimes it has seemed to be almost drowned out. But still those few, those chosen, have heard and followed me. What have those who have followed me gotton? Wealth? Peace? Easy Living? No, not always, although some have been so blessed. Those who follow me, those who I call my children, have heard the voice of the universe and stood amazed. For once you hear the voice of the universe, once you hear the great song, nothing else matters, nothing else is important. It is the song, the sound, the voice that the seeking are searching for, but cannot find. My lost children, the confused seekers, look for the song, look for the voice in the things of the world, which is not where it will be found. Look to me my children. Listen to my voice and you will find. And when you find, you will not be the same. Is the finding worth it? A hundren thousand souls and more say yes. All creation says yes. Your should says yes. Otherwise you won't be reading this. So, come to me, dance with me, and play with me and let us journey among the stars. They are your home after all. I am the Native American Flute, I call to you. Do you heard my sweet, silent voice? Can you hear my golden tones on all the noise? Those who hear my voice are my children, and I love them and they love me. I am the Native American Flute. I care for you. You are not alone. You have a friend who will be with you. Together we will travel the universe. I am the Native American Flute. I comfort you. Are you troubled? Are you lonely? Are you afraid? I comfort you and give you strength. I am the Native American Flute. I complete you. I am the part of you that you have been seeking. I am the part of you that you have been found. Let us melt together. I am the Native American flute. I am life. I am liberty. I am love. My friend forwarded this report on Suicide Prevention and Two-Spirited People to me and I thought you might be interested in it. The recommendations make sense and might be helpful to you. Please pass on the report to others you think might be interested...Thanks!
